Ok look, if you’re living in the mid-northern part of the United States right now, you’re experiencing some CRAZY cold.  It’s that crazy cold when you walk outside and it feels like everything in your body freezes in an instant.

And instead of just knowing that’s it’s cold, both sides of the climate change debate start ramping up their propaganda.  Everything from “See, the climate is changing to make extreme temperatures more extreme” to the latest Presidential Tweet storm including…

From the political to the science, there’s quite a “War on Climate” going on, and many can be left out in the Cold not knowing what to think or how to engage.

What I know, is that if we just stand around and decide not to engage, we might be risking the future for generations to come.  Forget about all the politics for a minute, and don’t get wound into some left leaning liberal crazy tree hugging box.  Just think for yourself.  Remember, in today’s world it seems like news can be reported for so many reasons other than the truth.  So how in this ‘fake news’ climate can we really start making real decisions that effect the reality of the world we live in?

A friend of mine decided to put together a documentary to address the issue from a faith point of view.  Now, if you’re a right leaning conservative Republican that’s been told climate change is just a bunch of made up facts to represent some left leaning political agenda, this might be a tough documentary to watch.

But if you’re a person of faith who adheres to a building block of “Managing the Earth” as a gift, then maybe it’s time to take a step back out of the political wing and check out what may be seen as a command to gently care for the resources we have.

I have many friends in the oil industry who wrestle with this every day.  They understand that modern civilization is built on the incomparable energy output measured in BTU’s of a drop of oil.  But they also understand the consequences of taking care of the environment they enjoy like the rest of us.  So to boil all the business down to a place where you have to sit on one side of the fence or another is paralyzing us from having a real conversation.

Don’t think for a second, the Global Warming or Climate Change conversation doesn’t have some dollar for dollar agenda involved, as does the other side of the debate.  Agenda is actually what’s keeping us all from knowing the truth.

So as you sit around this weekend looking for something to watch, and maybe you’re tired of Christmas movies and the top 10 lists for 2017; check out my buddy’s documentary WE KNOW NOT WHAT WE DO.

You can stream it from Amazon just by clicking here.

For sure it will give you something to talk about at the New Year’s table, and it just might give you some incentive to change some simple behaviors that may help us in the future. Who knows?

I’m always up for a challenge to change the world, and maybe it’s time we all take a step forward in what it might take to change our own way of seeing what’s going on in this Climate Change conversation.

And for those who think I’ve jumped off the crazy truck, don’t fret.  It’s just a conversation.  Let’s talk about what’s going on, and what small part we might all be able to do to reach out and help.  Ok…so what are you waiting for.  Click on the link above and go watch it.  At the very least, you may save the surface level conversations at the football table tomorrow.
