It's that time of year again. The snow is melting away, and the sun is on everybody's mind. When is it time for Spring BREAK?
Spring Break reminds us of warmth, sun, and fun times with friends. But in recent years, spring break has ushered in a number of issues for high school and college students. It's not just about the sun of Florida or Mexico, it's a dangerous party that can lead to some life long consequences.
Be sure to ask yourself, ARE YOU READY FOR SPRING BREAK?
Here's a few checklist items that can help you get in the mindset.
1. Know who you're going with.
Don't ever just show up to spring break with a bunch of strangers. You never know what kind of situations you might be put in simply because you don't know the crows you're running with. It seems like a no-brainer, but some students still feel like everyone is trustworthy, and nothing could be further from the truth.
2. Know what you're getting into.
I know. I know. The mantra of Spring Break is to Seize the Day, but really? Today the world is turning a different direction. Public protests are changing the way the world is functioning in government, and people aren't necessarily looking out for your best interest. Just know what kind of environment you're getting yourself into.
3. Steer Clear of the SUPER PARTY.
Every spring break location has a Super Party time where everyone is going to just have "the best time ever." Remember, if you know about it, so does everyone else. Be careful. Pick Pockets love hanging out at these events. You'll never know if you turn around and everything you own just vanishes into thin air. Not to mention the people today who are out to slip each other different substances. Be careful.
4. Decide before you go.
It's always easier to decide what kind of outcome you want before you're in the situation. If you decide that you're going to have good clean fun before you go, you probably will. But if you wait until you're in the moment, you'll find yourself open to any ideas that come down the pike. Again, decide before you go, and you'll live with less regret after you're vacation.
5. HAVE FUN!
The beauty of living in faith is we enjoy the creator of all things. The suns return to the warm part of the sky is a celebration, and can be seen as such. I blelieve God is 100% behind us enjoying His creation. He gave us much to see, much to do, and much to appreciate. Have a BLAST!
