The kids are home for school.
The colleges are on vacation.
Jack Frost is more than nipping at our nose our here in Durango.
And When I look out my window, I can't help but smile.
I'm smiling with memories of the hundreds of kids who came to do this crazy dance. At the end of every term out here, my buddy Peter Cunningham would stand up in front of the whole camp and proceed to … well, if you'd like, you can check this out
I smile seeing teenagers having a good time.
I smile when I think about the adventures they experienced out here in Colorado.
I smile when I dream about how many lives have changed because they had an opportunity to meet God out here.
I smile when I think about the community we've started.
But most of all, the image of the dance only serves to show the freedom some of these kids found while they were here. It's a freedom from sin. Freedom from the world. Freedom from the chains and bondage that keep them from experiencing all God wants for them in real life. To be FREE!
I was reading in John this morning, and found this, "To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (8:31-32)
It's the freedom offered as we hold to Jesus' teachings that give teenagers, and let's be honest…ALL OF US, the freedom in life we long for. It's why I've committed my life's work to helping students find it. For through the truth of Jesus' teachings in our lives, we can experience REAL FREEDOM!
I pray today, that you can find freedom through the Truth of Jesus.
And that's Re-defining the Christian Worldview.
