I just got back from a wonderful meeting with a friend of mine who used to work for a big box store chain. I won't mention the name to protect the innocent, but let's just say he was in charge of multiple millions in retail. I went out for two reasons 1. to help him launch an intra city dialogue with people in Wilmington North Carolina, and 2. Look at trying to fulfill our dream of a surf camp off the east coast.
We were in long meetings where I realized I'm not that great of a business person, any surprise? I've got so much to learn. But I was shocked at the response I got from my friend when we started talking about KIVU.
He looked at me at one point and said, "What do you think of when I say Rolls Royce? Gulfstream? Ferrari?"
"I'm in ministry and will never have them. " I chuckled
"No, for real." he responded, "those companies are the 'best in class' companies around the world. Andy, KIVU is the best in Class. Nobody is tackling what you're trying to tackle, and you are the right man for the job."
I was incredibly humbled by his remarks, but it made me start thinking.
KIVU is the best in class. We are offering an unbelievable opportunity for teenagers to Know God, and Love Others. It was like a light bulb went off in my head this morning, and I'm more committed than ever to see this project through.
Best in Class.
I've been thinking about that a lot.
Best in Class in terms of experience.
Best in Class in terms of Faith awakening.
Best in Class in terms of relationships.
Best in Class in terms of summer break.
Best in Class in Customer Service.
Best in Class….
What does Best in Class mean to you?
If you have been to KIVU as a camper, a staff member, or a parent, what do you think makes KIVU 'best in class'?
I would be interested to see if my ideas line up alongside yours.
Feel free to leave a short comment here and maybe we can stack up some pretty good reasons why KIVU is 'best in class.' Thanks for your help.
I'm honored to serve the vision God gave us.
