Did you know the first labor day was celebrated in New York City September 5, 1882?
Did you know it was actually Grover Cleveland that put the holiday in the mix as a nationally recognized event?
It was originally meant to be a time of remembrance for workers who died at the hands of the U.S. military and the U.S. marshals when concerns over strikes, labor unions, and working conditions rose to the forefront of American worker concerns.
Today, it's quite different.
We have parades celebrating all different types of lifestyles.
Or we have nice relaxing weekends
So whatever you do this weekend, may it be full of whatever joy you need. Take some time out, enjoy your friends, enjoy your family, and enjoy the good things God gave us.
See you again on Monday!!
