I talk a lot about KIVU, and the work that we're doing out here with teenagers, but I don't know if I can emphasize enough the importance of plain jain, good ole fashion, fun!
Sometimes, for some reason, I believe faith people have a notion that we have to be serious all the time. We have to walk around in reverence, for "God created the heavens and the earth" and so we have to make sure we keep God's creation in its proper place. But what about joy? What about laughter? What about relationship? What about taking the proper time out to look back on the creation and be full of thankfulness because of the overwhelming feeling of God's intentionality for life.
Jesus said it like this, "I have come that they might have life, and life more abundantly." (John 10:10)
What is the fullness?
What is the abundance?
What does it mean that they might have life?
It's often hard to discern the abundance of life when we are consumed with production, work, and stress. It's often the smallest parts of life that create the most significant dents in our ability to perceive life more abundantly.
In other words….
When was the last time someone was commended for the amount of work they did….at their funeral?
When was the last time you knew someone who said, "I've arrived. I don't need any more money."
When was the last time you knew someone who found joy in things apart from the things God calls life?
I would propose today, that you take 1 day this week, and just have FUN!!! Do something that fills your soul with joy. Actively perceive the beauty of the creation around you. Take some time out today to take a walk. See the trees. Smell the flowers. Hear the kids laugh.
Take some time to fill your heart with the abundance of the creator.
It's OK….YOU CAN HAVE FUN!!!!!!!
