I love these Banksey like graffiti pictures. There's so much creativity and thought put in simplistic images. What a cool deal!
So, I saw this yesterday, and I was thinking about all the turmoil going on around the world. Countries trying to wrestle from dictatorships, from social pressure, and even economic downturn. Freedom is hard. It certainly doesn't come free.
But think about God's view of freedom.
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, "If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."
They answered him, "We are Abraham's descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?"
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. (John 8:31-36)
Freedom comes when Jesus says things like, "Blessed are the poor in spirit. For yours is the Kingdom of Heaven."
In other words, God is with you all of you who are poor in spirit.
You don't have to be anything.
Jesus offers freedom from the law.
Freedom in a totality.
Freedom from the pressures of the world.
Freedom that will relieve you from the pain of this world, and transfer the hope of the Kingdom of God to your situation right now.
If the Son sets you free, then the fear of what's going on around us will not, must not prevail.
I'm not sure about you, but I'm ready to choose real freedom.
Not something simply made illusion by the hands of man.
I choose freedom from the one who can deliver!
