Have you ever found yourself asking, "Ok God, if you want me to _______, just give me a sign?"

I found this picture and thought, I wonder how many people got married because these clouds lined up like this?  HA!!  What a deal!

But seriously, how many times have you negotiated with the Lord to show you a sign of His will for your life?

God if you'll only…
I promise if I see _____, then I'll give you my life forever…and so on.

Well, you're in good company.

The people of Jesus' day wanted some sign too, but He was pretty short with them.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven. He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and
in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and
overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you
cannot interpret the signs of the times. A
wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none
will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and
went away.

Isn't it silly to be looking for signs when there are signs all around?

"The heavens declare the Glory of God and the firmament shows His handiwork."

That's what the Bible says.

Yet, we continue to ask God for the writing on the wall.  It's almost as if we're looking for some miraculous supernatural event to make a deal.

But what if we're living in the sign.

What if the creation shows the signs that God exists?
What if it's God's world all around us screaming at every turn?
What if every morning you wake up, just taking a deep breath is a sign?  A sign your body has been created in the image of God, and HE IS REAL!!

Maybe we should take some time out and look at the signs all around us, before we started asking for donkeys to talk, and hearts in the clouds.

Paul wrote, "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his
eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being
understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

Just some thoughts for today.

  1. Well-written review! I saw his show in Paris last November. Similar set list, but without the cover songs. I am looking forward to seeing him in San Francisco this weekend. It’s a shame Richard Hawley isn’t along for the ride.

Let me know what you think
