As I've been writing about our new adventure out here at KIVU, I've gotten a lot of e-mails asking how people can be a part of our vision with teens into the 2010 season. We've got plans to expand facilities and provide teenagers with high quality places where we can identify, and encourage the gifts God has given them, in order that they might know Him in an intimate way. It's a thrill to be able to provide these adventures for teens, and even more of a thrill comes when we can provide ways for anyone to partner through professional advice, logistical problem solving, or maybe even financial assistance.
The business part of KIVU is really simple. Once a location is up and running, the model is for all the facilities to be self sustaining. In other words, tuition generates enough money to operate these facilities at a high level that most all people know from our years as Kanakuk Colorado. But…in order to expand, we're going to start capital campaigns to allow for those parents and donors who want to lock arms with us would be able to do so.
KIVU is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit operation, and just like K-Colorado, we will provide the ability for donors to have tax letters to assist in year end giving projects.
And so today…we launched a way for you to partner.
We've polled all the kids that have come through here, and they've helped us identify three different ways to enhance they're experience here.
It seems like all the boys are interested in having a paintball course where they can play paintball in the field.
As we've done our research, the safest way to provide this activity is to build and actual field, buy our own equipment, and set up a functional paintball course next to the field.
In every event we start, we want to make sure we're providing the safest, most fun, event that kids can learn something along the way.
We've contacted a few different places that teach leadership skills, team dynamics, and what it means to go out and have fun playing paintball. So we're looking for help finding people, equipment, and curriculum that would help us in facilitating a high quality program here.
We've also seen an increase in the number of kids who are interested in doing BMX biking. There's some Xtreme adventures we can have, as kids are privy to competition, high level extreme sports, and a place where they can just go out and learn how to ride on courses like this.
I think this will provide a wonderful opportunity for kids who are not into traditional sports to find something they might be able to do for a lifetime.
And finally, we've had an overwhelming request to build a swimming facility.
Students are interested in doing tri-athlete specialty, some are wanting water slides, and blobs, while others just want a place to go and relax during the day.
If you have any expertise, and are interested in helping us facilitate a water park, please don't hesitate to call on me.
With all that said, we've developed an online donor program on the website, http://www.campkivu.com, where you can support any of these projects specifically by simply filling out a form online. We'll get the information, and provide a tax exempt letter, so that you'll have the benefit of a tax deduction at the end of the 2009 tax year. (It's under the ABOUT tab at the top of the website under DONATE.)
We're so excited to provide a quality place where teenagers can feel safe, be proud enough to invite their friends, AND give them a fundamental foundation in the Christian Worldview. And this is just a start. We've got plans for other domestic locations, and international trips to help couple what they learn with REAL TIME ACTION.
All in all, we'd love to partner with you at whatever level you want to help, because we feel like the next generation is our future.
So contact me via e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org, or visit the website and let's start building!!
Thanks so much for your support.
