Have you ever looked up toward a goal, and wanted so much to reach it?
Rock climbers have an innate ability to overcome pain to reach the top of a cliff, the top of a route, or the top of a mountain.
I've seen this twinkle in more than one eye of the teenager!! (sorry for the reference to the Rocky theme song, I just couldn't help myself.)
I wonder what our faith might look like with more of this look in our eyes to reach the prize?
Paul wrote of this, 'Not that I
have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but
I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I
do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I
do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.' (Philippians 4:12-14)
What would it look like if we had the eye of determination to our faith? Would Sunday morning look different? Or maybe…Monday morning might take on a totally different outlook. Instead of trying to ask 'what would Jesus do,' maybe we might taylor our question a bit to look like 'what DID Jesus do' and start acting more like Him.
Just thoughts for today!
May our mission be evident to all, to look more like the character of Jesus each day.
